Te Pounamu - The Prized Treasure
Te Pounamu is our off the grid whānau cabin, where all the incoming water is filtered, then UV filtered, and heated by gas for lovely warm outdoor showers, or indoor baths.
Additional electricity is supplied by our super quiet, and modern generator, which quietly hums away in the paddock - about 40m from the cabin itself. The generator is a simple pull start and is filled with fuel to power your lights and appliances.
Te Pounamu technically has two double beds, but we personally see the top bunk as a king single - big enough for a couple of kids.
The bi-folding windows at the dining table open up to Te Tai-o-Marokura i Te Moana Nui-a-Kiwa (The Pacific Ocean), and really are spectacular.
The backdoor opens out onto a beautiful surrounding deck where you can simply lay in the sun and gaze up at Manakau on the Seaward Kaikōura Mountain Range.
